Q: What documents do I need to bring to my appointment?

 

A:

  • Valid driver's license or photo identification for both you and your spouse (if married).

  • Social security cards for all persons listed on the return.

  • Birth dates for all persons listed on return.

  • Copies of last year's state and federal tax returns if you have them.

  • All income statements:

    • Forms W-2 and 1099, Social Security, unemployment

    •  Other statements, such as pensions, stocks, interest, and any documents showing taxes withheld.

    • If you own or run a business or farm, collect records of all your income

  • All records of expenses, such as:

    • Tuition, mortgage interest, or property taxes.

    • Student Loan Interest

    • If you own or run a business or farm, collect records of all your expenses.

  • Bank routing numbers and account numbers to direct deposit any refund.

  • If applicable:

    • Dependent childcare information: name and address of paid caretakers and either their Social Security number or other tax identification number.

    • If you purchased coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace, Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement. (1095-B and 1095-C are not needed)

 

Please note, some credits require additional interviews, statements, and documents to verify eligibility.

 

No need to bring medical or charity receipts.  Only the total amounts are needed If you itemize.  Keep the receipts for your records.  

 

 

Q: Do you do partnership or corporate returns?

 

A: No, our focus is on individuals and small businesses that are reported on schedule C.

 

 

Q: Do you accept clients from out of state?

 

A:  While most of our clients are in Michigan, we are happy to serve clients from any state with virtual appointments and document uploading via our Client Portal.

      Many of our snowbirds choose to mail their documents or file an extension. 

 

 

Q: How much do you charge?

 

A: Our minimum price for a 1040 return is $200.  Prices may be higher depending on the complexity and additional forms required.

 

 

Q: I have been a client for many years, will my price go up?

 

A: It depends.  We try to keep our prices reasonable, but due to inflation, you may see modest price increases.
